Translink is the public transport provider for Northern Ireland, operating bus and rail services through its Metro, NI Railways, and Ulsterbus divisions. Together, these services deliver over 80 million passenger journeys each year, operating a fleet of approximately 1,400 buses, coaches, and trains, running 12,500 services daily, and employing more than 3,800 people across the region
Given the critical nature of these services, Translink required a reliable, scalable way to digitise data capture, improve visibility, and support continuous improvement across diverse operational teams.
Digitising paper-based processes across a large, multi-operator organisation
Translink approached Mobiess with a need to digitise and streamline a wide range of paper-based documents and business processes across the organisation.

Mobiess provided an intuitive forms designer and mobile data capture platform, enabling Translink to collect real-time, structured data into a Microsoft SQL Server database, supporting self-delivery of dashboards and reports using existing Power BI tools.
Mobile working was rolled out with support from an internal Translink team that understood the complexity of large-scale public transport operations. This allowed new data collection processes to be introduced even where no previous systems or software existed.
By tailoring the Mobiess audits and inspections module with a focus on data quality from the outset, Translink were able to replace outdated paper processes with mobile workflows aligned to real operational needs.
