Transforming asset data collection for Thomson FM with Mobiess The solution
Thomson FM chose Mobiess to create a more efficient asset data collection process and improve the value delivered to clients. In 2015, they began implementing the Mobiess Asset Inspector software for Core Engineering Asset Surveys. The mobile application provides consistent data collection and coding through configurable multi-level hierarchies and database-driven selection lists, reducing costs and data errors.
With growing demand for robust and accurate building services asset registers, Thomson FM reviewed the condition of over 250,000 assets in 2016 alone. Clients benefiting from the collaboration between Thomson FM and Mobiess include BAE, Defence Science and Technology Laboratories (DSTL) and National Air Traffic Services (NATS).

By using secure iPads with 4G connectivity for on-site collection, data is synchronised to the Thomson FM network within minutes, making it instantly accessible for analysis. The Mobiess Asset Inspector platform has complemented existing processes, improving project delivery times and quality. Once quality assured, asset data is transposed into Thomson FM's standard asset register, including CIBSE life expectancy and replacement costs based on published sources such as SPONS. In early 2016, Thomson FM expanded their use of the Mobiess platform by implementing Mobiess Insight for Compliance and Safety Audits, alongside fabric survey capability for real-time lifecycle surveys and analysis.
